When beginning an advanced skin journey, it’s important to recognise the difference between skin types and skin conditions so that we can best understand your skin and ultimately discover how it should be treated. Skin types can be divided into 3 categories: Dry, Oily and Sensitive while skin conditions are classified as: Dehydrated, Barrier Impaired, Acne and Reactive and Inflamed. Skin conditions (dehydration, barrier impaired, acne and reactive and inflamed) are what lead to further skin symptoms, visibly recognised as hyperpigmentation, premature aging, lines and wrinkles, loss of volume and structure, and scarring. It is imperative that we understand the difference so that we may treat skin at the root of the cause, rather than by its symptoms which are often what prompt us to seek skin help.
